Eat Before You Arrive (Especially with Kids)
"If you're visiting with young children, I'd recommend having dinner beforehand," he says. "There are plenty of delicious snacks and desserts throughout the markets, but if you're planning on buying dinner as well, the cost can add up quite quickly."
Visit Later for a More Relaxed Experience
"I actually prefer arriving a little later. The early evening tends to be busiest with families, but by coming a bit later, you'll usually find it's easier to move around and you'll have a much better opportunity to take photos without large crowds."
Arrive Earlier for Popular Food Stalls
"That said, if there's a particular food stall or dessert you're hoping to try, getting there earlier is worthwhile because some of the popular items can sell out."
Dress Warmly
His final piece of advice is simple. "Dress warmly. Whether you're visiting a Christmas market during winter in Australia or celebrating Christmas in the Northern Hemisphere, having enough warm layers means you'll enjoy the experience so much more."
