Vendor Spotlight: French Knot Brings Handmade Products to TheChristmas.com

Discover the story behind French Knot, a woman-owned brand bringing handmade, ethically sourced holiday products to TheChristmas.com.

We are excited to share that French Knot has joined TheChristmas.com this holiday season with a collection of beautifully crafted, handmade holiday items. Their products are designed for those who value high quality natural materials, ethical sourcing, and women-owned and operated businesses.

The company was founded by Lindsay Mason in 2012. Lindsay started her career in the fashion industry but after seven years she decided to start her own business. With little money but support from her family and friends, Lindsay started French Knot out of a small office in her father’s barn. Her work in the fashion industry allowed Lindsay to travel to many different countries including Nepal. The quality and workmanship of the woman artisans she met with in Nepal was unlike anything she had encountered, and became the foundation for French Knot.

Out of the gate, Lindsay’s products were a hit. She sold over 12,000 pieces at her first tradeshow which led to major retailers taking notice. What started a small operation out of the family barn in Indiana has grown in a leading brand carried by major retailers, including Bloomingdale’s, Anthropologie, Nordstrom, Free People, and Uncommon Goods. Her products are also available in over 400 other retailers across the U.S. Now, TheChristmas.com is proud to welcome Lindsay and French Knot to our marketplace.

French Knot operates on five core values that are a blend of artistry and ethics: 1) all products are handmade by artisans, 2) ethically sourced/responsibly made, 3) use high quality natural materials, are 4) vintage inspired/one-of-a-kind designs, and 5) support women near and far. They use wool fibers sourced from New Zealand, Australia, and South Africa that are imported to Nepal. From there, over 1,000 Nepalese artisans begin creating their beautiful handmade products.

The production process is both traditional and deeply intentional. Every design starts in Lindsay’s Indiana studio, where she creates original hand-drawn sketches. These designs are translated into knitting charts and patterns and sent to artisans in Nepal. Yarns are hand-spun and dyed using natural materials. Each piece is then knit and embroidered entirely by hand. The work features layered textures, beading, and design details that make every item unique. No two pieces are identical. Each reflects the artistry and skill of the individual who crafted it.

Lindsay’s background in fashion gave her a sharp eye for design, but she wanted to create products that stood apart from seasonal trends. Her goal was to produce accessories that feel personal, tell a story, and support ethical production practices. French Knot takes its social impact seriously. The company works to ensure living wages and safe working environments for all artisans. This process preserve traditional techniques while supporting the economic empowerment of women in Nepal.
