The Perfect Mindset for Holiday Decorating from Emanuel Charles

As the holiday season approaches, we've been gathering decorating tips and inspiration from some of the top creators and professional decorators. One standout conversation came from Atlanta-based content creator and holiday designer Emanuel Charles (Instagram: @holiday_array) who offered a piece of advice that every holiday decorator, professional or not, needs to hear.  

"I've learned that whatever brings you joy is true perfection."

Emanuel believes that perfection doesn't come from symmetry or technique, it comes from presence and joy. Whether it's your first Christmas tree or your 50th, he reminds us that the most meaningful decorations are the ones that reflect your spirit in the moment. 

Here's Emanuel's advice in his own words:

"There’s no right or wrong holiday, but there is a perfect holiday. I’ve been extremely blessed to experience the perfect holiday every year. Even now as a holiday designer each holiday is perfection. Every tree I’ve designed from my very first tree to present day. All have been perfect. Not because of the beauty of the lights, ornaments, ribbon, bows, wreaths, garlands and all things in between, but because of the joy I have experienced looking at the lights, hanging the ornaments, using ribbons and making bows, curating wreaths, garlands and so much more.

Being present in the moment and looking inward to know what joy is as defined by one’s self. Sure, I can see how my technique has evolved over time but the only thing I’ve ever felt with every design is joy and greater joy as time goes on, and through that, I’ve learned that whatever brings you joy is true perfection!"
